The month of May had a lot of one-off expenses. All of my closest friends are getting married this summer, so I spent quite a bit on suit rentals, jack and jill tickets, and gifts. I also bought all sorts of nursery plants to kickstart my garden beds. Bill-wise, I had to renew 3 annual prescriptions in addition to my usual monthly bills. As a result, my discretionary spending for this month was off the charts. Not including my contributions to retirement accounts, rent, loans, and bills, I spent nearly 2000 dollars. Nearly double than I would like to on average. As a result, my checking account took a hit. My automated contributions still drove my net worth up an additional $4750.

This past week I received the good news that my job will start offering weekend hours to pick up. There is no overtime pay, but it will allow me to continue to grow my income 8 hours at a time.

This will certainly help keep my net worth jumping each month and counteract the cost associated with all the events in the coming months.

My goal for next month is to reel in discretionary spending.
